Fans in Awe of Dhoni’s Blazing Stumping

Yadav tried to go with an inside-out against spinner Noor Ahmad during the 11th over but miscalculated the ball’s trajectory. The delivery spun past his bat and into Dhoni’s gloves  safely. Yadav was just about to drag his bat inside the crease when the legendary wicketkeeper broke the stump in a split second as Dhoni pulled off the dismissal in merely 0.12 seconds — something that shocked cricket aficionados and experts.

With several videos of the stumping making their way onto social media, fans and former cricketers laud the skills of Dhoni that have not faded despite their age, and he continues to be one of the best wicketkeepers the game has seen. He batted No. 8, facing only two deliveries,  yet his presence alone was enough to galvanise the Chepauk crowd. No one is like Dhoni.

No one is like Dhoni: Harbhajan Singh.

Former Team India and CSK player Harbhajan Singh has praised Dhoni’s extraordinary skills behind the stumps. While addressing the fans in a recent YouTube video, he praised Dhoni’s speed, saying that not even at the age of 43, his reflexes are matchless.

“There is no wicketkeeper like MS Dhoni, even now. His wicketkeeping is still electric. MI might feel let down with their batting display, but it was only the first match. Their total could have been competitive had more matches been played on this surface,” Harbhajan said.

Even such a fleeting presence at the crease was enough to send waves of excitement through the stadium, a testament to his status as a combined legend of the IPL and CSK. Harbhajan also hailed Dhoni, saying his charisma and fan following are unmatched, while the crowd went berserk the moment he walked out onto the field.

“When Dhoni came to bat, he only played two balls, but the whole atmosphere of the stadium was electrifying,” he continued.

How MS Dhoni Views Captaincy and Individual Performance

In addition to his marquee work behind the stumps, Dhoni shed light on what makes a captain great and his perspective towards performing as an individual. Speaking on Star Sports, he said that it is the captain’s performance that comes first and only then a captaincy role.

“If you are not performing well but your captaincy is good, it becomes an issue for the team. First and foremost, you want a performer as your captain. “First and foremost, your performance has to be right there, then captaincy comes,” Dhoni said.

This also highlights the importance of leading from the front and the fact that a team has to be based on all members contributing rather than just leadership skills.

Dhoni’s DRS Masterstroke

Dhoni even showcased his cricketing skills in CSK’s game against MI. His eye for detail was at play again when he told captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to check an LBW appeal against Mitchell Santner. Initially not out, according to the on-field umpire, Dhoni was sure the decision needed to be reversed. His judgement was spot on, with the DRS review confirming the dismissal and giving Nathan Ellis a vital wicket.

With performances like these, MS Dhoni only continues to prove why he’s cricket’s sharpest mind and finest gloveman. Despite his old age, there is no doubt that his astute brilliance with his gloves, calling-wise cricketing tactics, and fan following make him an asset that can’t be replaced by Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025.
