Mathew Wade joins Gujarat Titans: Wade’s Journey with the Gujarat Titan
Wade was a key member of Gujarat Titans’ title-winning IPL 2022 side and has been a part of the franchise for two seasons, playing 12 matches. He managed just 183 runs in 15 matches and averaged 13.07 during his IPL career. His versatility as both an opening batter and finisher was widely acknowledged during his T20 career.
A Decorated T20 Career
In T20s, he has scored 5,267 runs in his total of 276 matches. One of his greatest innings came in the 2021 T20 World Cup semi-final, where he played an epic knock to take Australia to victory. He has played franchise cricket in various leagues across the globe, most recently with Sharjah Warriors in the ILT20, where he helped his team qualify for the playoffs in February 2025. Earlier in January, Head was also pivotal in Hobart Hurricanes winning their first-ever Big Bash League (BBL) title.

Enhancing Coaching Staff of Gujarat Titans
He will join head coach Ashish Nehra, batting coach Parthiv Patel, and assistant coaches Aashish Kapoor and Narender Negi. He brings even more experience to the table, and that provides depth to the batting lineup.
IPL Season 2025 Strengths and Weaknesses of the Gujarat Titans
The Titans had a tough 2024 IPL season, ending up in seventh place on the points table with just five victories in 14 games and unable to enter the playoffs. Adding to their woes, the weather was not cooperative, washing out their last two matches.
For IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans have bolstered the squad through an auction, picking up players like Mohammad Siraj (Rs 12.25 crore), Kagiso Rabada (Rs 10.75 crore), and Prasidh Krishna (Rs 9.50 crore). Some very good buys that they made were the likes of Washington Sundar, Jos Buttler, Karim Janat, and Ishant Sharma, who provided depth to both their batting and bowling departments.
