After a great start to IPL 2025, where RCB defeated KKR with seven wickets and secured their first win in IPL 2025 with NRR +2.137.
It’s all set for another high-octane match when the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) face off against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second match of IPL 2025 (SRH vs RR) on 23rd March at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, at 3:30 PM IST.

SRH vs RR Match Preview
While both teams are entering into the tournament with their explosive batting line-ups, the 2024 finalist SRH have the advantage of playing in their own backyard, having better knowledge about the pitch and the ground. On the other hand, RR seeks to change their fortunes against Hyderabad this time, as Rajasthan has lost their last three matches against Hyderabad. RR will look to win this time against the SRH to start their campaign with a win.
With the batting-friendly conditions in Hyderabad, we can generally expect some big runs and high-scoring matches at this venue. However, thunderstorms with gusty winds are predicted in parts of Telangana from Saturday to Monday, and on the matchday, it is expected to be dry and without affecting the gameplay.
Head-to-Head Record
SRH have won 11, and RR has won 9 out of 20 encounters in IPL history between these two franchises of IPL. Interestingly, Rajasthan doesn’t have a great record while playing in Hyderabad against the SRH, as RR has won only one match against the SRH while playing in Hyderabad. Though RR mostly competes with SRH as a good team, the stats of RR against SRH are not good at all while playing in Hyderabad.
RR vs SRH Probable 11 & Key Details
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
This SRH team is captained by Pat Cummins and has a batting lineup filled with powerful and aggressive batters in their top order. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma are the two biggest threats for the RR side, as both these batters can single-handedly take the match away from the opponent regardless of the pressure or the playing conditions. This year, one more aggressive batsman is there in the squad of SRH for IPL 2025, Ishan Kishan.
The addition of Ishan Kishan is making the SRH team look even more dangerous for the bowlers during the powerplay of the match. Even the middle order of SRH is very strong, as they have Nitish Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen in their middle order to provide a good finishing touch in death overs.SRH is well-balanced with aggressive T20i batters to chase or set massive totals, often going beyond 200+ runs, as we witnessed in the last season of IPL 2024.
The bowling unit, led by Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel and Pat Cummins, has the experience to soak the burden in pressure situations due to their experience. Pat Cummins was already there in the SRH squad, but the inclusion of Mohammed Shami is making this bowling attack more dangerous. These two bowlers are one of the best fast bowlers to represent their native countries in international cricket, especially in the limited-overs format of the game. While Rahul Chahar will carry the spin attack on his shoulders, Rahul is also capable of taking crucial wickets with his bowling skills.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)
The Rajasthan Royals will be playing their first match of IPL 2025 without their regular captain, Sanju Samson, at the start of the season Sanju is still recovering from his finger injury. Samson will only play as a batter and not as a captain, for this scenario Riyan Parag will be serving as captain for the first three games till Sanju recovers from his finger injury. RR’s squad and the probable team is also looking good for this IPL season as always.

Though RR has had trouble against SRH recently, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson will look to get a solid start, and with Riyan Parag, Nitish Rana and Dhruv Jurel in the middle, the batting line-up may play attacking cricket right from the beginning of the innings of RR. They will definitely look to play attack game during the middle overs as Shimron Hetmyer and Wanindu Hasaranga will play major roles in the finishing slot. RR will actually miss Jos Buttler in this season of IPL as Buttler was known for his experience for providing good starts to the RR’s batting unit.
Their bowling unit has changed too, but it still has some good bowlers. The return of Jofra Archer is like a big boost for RR, and Sandeep Sharma will play a vital role in death overs along with Jofra. Fazalhaq Farooqi may also play a crucial role if he looks good from his first over.
