IPL 2025 – Squad of Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
- Ruturaj Gaikwad (Batsmen): Ruturaj is one of the two most expensive players in CSK’s squad. He is responsible for captaining the side and giving a good start to CSK in the upper order of the batting lineup. He might not be able to score quick runs in the earlier part of his innings, but he can shift his gears as the game progresses. He is someone who can bat on tough pitches where bowlers will be getting help from the pitch and stop the opposition from taking wickets from one end. Though his captaincy in the last season of IPL was not that good, he might prove himself by winning a title for CSK under his captaincy.
- Devon Conway (Batsmen): Conway, the regular opener batsman of the New Zealand cricket team, will be opening the innings for CSK along with Ruturaj. He is someone who can score runs quickly and is also capable of standing on the wicket if the wicket is good for bowlers. He is someone who knows how to spend time on the wicket and shift gears as needed.
- Rachin Ravindra (Batting Allrounder): Another Kiwi batsman who is technically very strong or the most skillful batsman in this squad. He can win matches single-handedly, but the last season was not great for him based on his capabilities. Rachin can also bowl at times if the situation urges for it.
- Deepak Hooda (Batsmen): He is an Indian batsman who can play a crucial role in the upper-middle order of the batting line-up with his batting abilities. He is not someone who scores runs very quickly, but he can perform pretty well in a few of his matches.
- Shivam Dube (Batting Allrounder): Shivam Dube is actually the most destructive batsman in CSK’s squad. He is capable of hitting huge sixes, scoring runs very quickly, and snatching matches from the opponent’s grip.
- Ravindra Jadeja (Bowling Allrounder): Ravindra Jadeja has been like a trump card for CSK and Ms. Dhoni for many years. He is also retained by Chennai and got the season fee of INR 18 Crores, making him equally expensive as Rituraj, the captain.
- Sam Curran (Batting all-rounder): The English all-rounder who can play a crucial role in winning matches with the bat and the ball. He hasn’t yet shown any significant performance in his IPL career consistently, so it will be good to see if he can give some consistently good performances for CSK.
- Vijay Shankar (Bowling Allrounder): Another player who came back to CSK’s squad is Vijay Shankar, who was a part of this team during his early career in IPL. He is someone who is underrated, but he can play some small innings in death-overs of the game with his bat, and he is also capable of bowling with a decent pace bounce and some good lines and lengths.
- MS Dhoni (Wicket Keeper – Batsmen): It should not be essential to say what the importance of MS Dhoni is for CSK. Cricket fans and millions of people know what he has done for the Chennai Super Kings and the Indian Cricket Team in the past. He is actually like a pillar of this team, and he can help Chennai win another title by the end of this season of IPL with his guidance and mentorship on and off the field.
- Ravichandran Ashwin (Bowling Allrounder): Ashwin is the man who once was the front-line spinner of Chennai Super Kings under MSD’s captaincy. He had helped CSK win titles in the IPL with his bowling performances. Now, when he comes back to Chennai again, he brings years of experience from international cricket and domestic cricket he has played over the years.
- Noor Ahmad (Spin Bowler): He is someone who can take wickets at difficult stages. Seeing how he will play for his new franchise after leaving Gujarat Titans will be exciting.
- Matheesha Pathirana (Pace Bowler): Pathirana is someone who will be seen leading the team’s pace bowling attack. He has shown in his previous performances that he can be very dangerous with the new ball and in the death overs of the match. It won’t be easy for batters to score runs against him, and his bowling action makes him different from other bowlers and more successful. His presence is significant for the team for all 14 or 0r 17 matches of the season, and it will be a big challenge for him to stay fit for the entire season as a pace bowler.
- Nathan Ellis (Pace Bowler): Ellis is like a substitute for Matheesha Pathirana; it is tough to say that both Matheesha Pathirana and Ellis will play in the playing eleven together. But yes, in the absence of Pathirana, Ellis will be the team’s first-choice bowler. It’s essential to have two quality pace bowlers in a team and rotate players to give them time to rest.
- Mukesh Choudhary (Pace Bowler): He has been underrated so far in his bowling career. Bowlers like Mukesh Choudhary will be the happiest to become a part of such a successful team in IPL. Mukesh will look to deliver the best performance of his career in IPL under the mentorship of MS Dhoni, which may help him perform well in his future career with the guidance of MSD.
- Syed Khaleel Ahmed (Pace Bowler): Another good bowler is here on the squad, but he wasn’t really able to take out the best performance of his career based on his capabilities. He can deliver much better performances than his current best career performance. He will also look forward to learning under Dhoni’s guidance and mentorship, just like two other ex-players of CSK’s squad, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar, who had learned much under MSD for a few years.
