David Warner Attacks Air India
David Warner, clearly troubled, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustrations, saying, “We are now boarded on a plane with no pilots and sitting on the plane for hours. Why would you accept a load of passengers if you have no pilots for the flight?” The post soon went viral, eliciting conversations on the airline’s handling of its flight operations.
Air India’s Explanation
Following Warner’s complaint, Air India interacted with him, stating that severe weather conditions in Bengaluru had caused major disruptions for a number of airlines. The airline said that the operating crew for Warner’s flight had been delayed on a previous assignment that was impacted by those disruptions, causing a delay in departure. Air India, in its post ooper above, acknowledged the inconvenience and requested passengers for their “patience.” Letters were added both saying that maintaining the flight schedule amid foggy weather was not easy.
The weather on the day the incident took place was extreme in Bengaluru, as multiple parts of the city experienced heavy rain and high winds, causing significant waterlogging and traffic jams. The India Meteorological Department said Delhi had rain between 21 millimetres and 30 millimetres and thunderstorms during the day. The inclement weather also caused several flights to be diverted, including at least 19 flights, two from Air India, to alternate destinations due to poor visibility.
Warner’s Upcoming Commitments
Having slipped down the pecking order in international formats, David Warner has been a target for criticism in recent months as he prepares to play in franchise cricket. Though he didn’t attract a bid in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction, he has landed with franchises in other leagues, including The Hundred, where he will represent London Spirit. He will also feature in the 2025 season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), being named in the Karachi Kings’ platinum category of players. Apart from cricket, Warner is also making his mark in the film industry with his debut in the movie ‘Robinhood’ in the Telugu language.
